The event takes place on Sunday the 13th July 2014 and starts from Manchester United’s Football Ground at Old Trafford and will take the team along country lanes to the finish at the South Promenade in Blackpool, once the riders arrive at their destination they will be able to enjoy a barbecue, live music and well-earned massage.

At present the Sandy Lane team are still recruiting team members,

“So far there are a few of us on board and it’s good to see the return of familiar faces form previous years, we always welcome new riders to join our ranks and show their support for the Christies” advised Tony earlier this week .

Cleaning Windscreen Wipers

Squeaking and rubbing car windscreen wiper blades are one of the most annoying and disturbing things that most car owners have to endure at some point. Your other car passengers may find this annoying also and let’s be honest after a while tempers tend to flare, here are some very useful tips and tricks that will help you stop your wipers from making this annoying squeaking.

When you clean your car’s windscreen wiper blades, make sure you clean them thoroughly. You can clean them with either vinegar, washing up liquid or baking soda.  Baking soda!! in order to clean your car’s windscreen wiper blades,  just sprinkle it on a dry or damp paper towel and then wipe.

A common issue for the squeak is the simple fact that the windscreen wipers need replacing, so it is very important that you replace your car’s windscreen wiper blades regularly. Don’t hold back from spending money on the top of the range as the cheaper ones will not last as long and you will soon find yourself back in the same situation.

You can also check if your car’s wiper blades or the wiper assemblies under them are too loose or too tight. It’s very possible this could be causing the squeaking. Also, don’t forget to refill the windscreen washer fluid.

Death Of The Tax Disc

The tax disc that shows motorists have paid vehicle excise duty is to be replaced with an electronic system after 93 years, the disc was first introduced back in 1921 but officials state it is no longer needed with the DVLA and police now relying on an electronic register.

The new system that is expected to come into effect in October 2014 will allow people to pay the charge by monthly direct debit.  At present motorists are able to choose whether they pay in twelve or six month instalments.  The six month option costs 10% extra each year, but this is expected to be cut to 5%.

The new option of paying by monthly direct debit is also expected to cost 5% more than paying for a full year in one go.

But how will this affect the second car industry as replacing tax discs with electronic records will have a big impact on used car sales – and is there a possibility of inadvertently driving an untaxed car once the current system comes to an end.

Instead the tax disc will be cancelled and the seller will apply for a refund from the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency for the remaining tax, leaving the buyer to re-taxing the vehicle. So gone are the days of buying a vehicle with 6 months tax left on it.
